I founded LevelUp to help mission-driven leaders build organizations that work as hard as they do.

My background spans executive operations, financial stewardship, governance and people leadership in nonprofit and advocacy organizations, including We Build Progress, Earthjustice and the Green New Deal Network.

I’ve partnered with executive leadership and boards, coordinated board meetings and staffed committees, developed organizational policies and modernized financial workflows. My experience also includes workforce planning and guiding teams through significant organizational change.

With LevelUp, you work directly with me: an experienced partner who can help you make the decisions and do the work.

HOW I WORK

Equity is part of
the operating model.

Diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility and justice are core to my work—not separate from how an organization makes decisions, supports people or uses its resources.

I help leaders ask whose perspectives are missing, where processes create barriers, and how power and accountability are shared. The aim is practical systems that respect people’s dignity and support the mission.

That means listening to the people affected, making expectations transparent, and considering access needs from the start.

EXPERIENCE THAT INFORMS THE WORK

Strong foundations.
Real implementation.

Selected examples from my nonprofit leadership roles—the experience I bring to LevelUp engagements.

FINANCIAL OPERATIONS

Making payments
work better.

Implemented digital vendor payment workflows that eliminated in-person check signing, alongside accounting codes that distinguished activity across affiliated organizations.

PEOPLE & CULTURE

Putting clarity
into people systems.

Designed and implemented an equity- and competency-based performance review process and a professional development policy to support more consistent people practices.

PLANNING & EXECUTION

Connecting priorities
to resources.

Brought directors into the annual budgeting process and created a centralized finance and operations calendar to organize recurring responsibilities.

GOVERNANCE & PEOPLE LEADERSHIP

Clear decisions.
Care through change.

Support the board. Move decisions forward.

My experience includes coordinating board meetings, staffing committees and supporting the connection between governance and day-to-day operations. I bring structure to meeting preparation, decision follow-through and the partnership between leadership and the board.

Plan for the organization—and the people in it.

I also bring experience in organizational staffing, workforce planning and significant transitions. That perspective informs how I help leaders align roles, capacity and resources while considering equity, clear communication and the people affected by change.

A CLOSER LOOK · PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Building the systems
behind the mission.

An example from my executive operations work supporting two affiliated nonprofits.

The work

Coordinating finances, people practices and recurring responsibilities across affiliated organizations requires clear processes and careful stewardship. My work connected these areas through practical changes to how the organizations operated.

What I put in place

  • Digital payment workflows. Implemented vendor payments that eliminated the need for in-person check signing.
  • Clearer financial tracking. Established accounting codes to distinguish activity across the two organizations.
  • More structured people practices. Designed and implemented an equity- and competency-based performance review process and a professional development policy.
  • A shared operating rhythm. Brought directors into annual budgeting and created a centralized finance and operations calendar.

What this brings to your organization

Experience connecting financial stewardship, people systems and implementation. Together, we can identify where your organization needs more clarity and build a practical plan for getting there.

This example reflects my employment experience and informs my approach at LevelUp.

BEFORE WE CONNECT

A few good
questions.

What does a fractional COO do?

A fractional Chief Operating Officer provides senior operational leadership on a part-time or scoped basis. I help connect strategy with priorities, resources, people and execution, with an engagement shaped around your organization’s needs.

Who is LevelUp a good fit for?

Small nonprofits, founders and growing organizations that need experienced operational support. You might be building your first formal systems, navigating change or finding that too many day-to-day decisions fall to one leader.

Can we start with one project?

Yes. A focused project can be a useful starting point—for example, improving a payment workflow, strengthening a planning process or developing people policies. We’ll define the scope and deliverables together.

How does an ongoing engagement work?

We begin with your priorities and agree on the responsibilities, working cadence and scope of support. That gives us a shared understanding of what I’ll own, how we’ll collaborate and how we’ll assess progress.

How are fees and timelines determined?

They depend on the scope, complexity and level of involvement. After an initial conversation, we’ll agree on the work, fees and timing before an engagement begins.

Do I need to know exactly what’s wrong?

No. Start with what feels difficult: unclear ownership, a process that keeps breaking down or a priority that never seems to move. We can use that conversation to identify a useful first step.
